The Right Worshipful George C. Scott, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is a one-time (non-renewable) scholarship to a worthy high school senior in the greater Boykins area. It is presented in memory of RW Scott, a past Worshipful Master of Boykins Lodge for 27 years, 23 in a row, called to the Celestial Lodge Above in 2008.

RW George C. Scott
Born April 2, 1928 in Franklin, VA, RW Scott was a former member of the U. S. Coast Guard and longtime owner of the former Phillips 66 Service Station and Scott’s Mini Mart in Boykins. He was the Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge No. 287 A.F.&A.M. for 27 years, a 40-year member of Boykins Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Southampton 68 & Franklin 128 Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department. An exceptionally dedicated Southampton High School football fan, RW Scott was a devoted member of Boykins Baptist Church and husband to Erma Newsome Scott for 56 years as of his passing on April 24, 2008.
This scholarship maintains his love of education for youth.
