Lodge Mergers
It is not uncommon for Masonic Lodges to merge or consolidate when they can no longer meet all the requirements to be independent. Once agreed by both Lodges and the Grand Lodge, the Brethren are one body, one Craft, one – without distinction.
Three times Courtland Lodge No. 85 has welcomed Lodges in distress to merge with them:
| Lodge | Location | Year |
|---|---|---|
| Newsoms Lodge No. 128 | Newsoms, VA | 19?? |
| Widow’s Son Lodge No. 150 | Emporia, VA | 2020 |
| Boykins Lodge No. 287 | Boykins, VA | 2024 |
The culture, however, is one membership, one now and forward, three new histories to enrich Courtland Lodge’s.
